Review in Progress: Ghost Recon Wildlands – Year 2

Ghost Recon Wildlands gathered a lot of fans over the last months, being able to explore a vast open world, filled with thrilling missions simply works. Recently, Ubisoft confirmed their continuous support with the start of the second year of Wildlands. This review will be updated each time a new special mission is included. Today, we take a look at the first special mission featuring Sam Fisher.

Enter Sam Fisher

The second year of Ghost Recon Wildlands consists of four major updates. These updates will be free and will always add some impressive new stuff to the game. You’re able to buy a Year 2 pass for or $29.99, giving them seven-day early access to the new Ghost War classes as well as a customization pack, four Special Ops crates, and four Ghost War crates, giving them more character-customization options in the campaign and Ghost War. Now, let’s talk about the first big update called Special Operations I.

This new PvE marks the start of a great second year and is perhaps the best possible cross-over that could happen to the franchise. During this new mission, our favorite spy ‘Sam Fisher’ finally returns. Sam Fisher is the protagonist of the Splinter Cell franchise, a franchise that needs to return as soon as possible. Of course, this isn’t a Splinter Cell game but Sam really sets the tone for the first Special Operation. The Ghosts are called in to support Sam Fisher acquire some stolen material from Langley. It’s a dark but fun mission filled with classic Splinter Cell action, combining amazing new gear with interesting plot twists. If you’re able to clear this mission before May 16th, you might even get Sam’s goggles as a special reward!

There’s even more

Having a special mission like this is a fun way to kick off the new year of Wildlands, but there’s more content to enjoy. Since this update is Splinter Cell-themed, you’ll also get a special new Gear Pack. This pack includes some new customization options and weapons such as the SC4000 assault rifle and more. The pack also add the Echelon assault class for the PvP mode. This new class is based on the elite team so they have access to high-tech equipment and a Sonar Pulse ability to see enemies behind walls.

Ghost Recon

All combined, this first update certainly impressive with the new mission and new gear. Also, note that you can play it solo or in co-op. Ubisoft also finally added the option to customize your AI squad. Finally, you’ll be able to create your virtual friends exactly the way you want. It’s a great new start of the second year and we can’t wait to see what’s next!
