Spiral Splatter is a brain-bending arcade puzzle game that will push your hand-eye coordination to the limit with nonstop, mind-boggling puzzles! Each stage of gameplay adds a new challenge with an ever-increasing difficulty. Don’t be fooled by appearances, Spiral Splatter will stump even the most adept puzzle game aficionado.
Put your problem-solving skills to the test as you navigate over 100 levels and 11 different stages full of perplexing puzzles. Watch out for moving obstacles as you maneuver through each level. Think fast, if you’re too slow, the ghost may catch up to you. Hustle to reach the finish before your time is up!
What really makes this game stand out, the double approach to a level and how that can bite you in the ass. Like the majority of puzzle games nowadays, the levels come with a 3-star system and this is where it excels. The game is all about hand-eye coordination and the speed that you use to tackle the puzzle, is what brings the best out of you, the player, in order to score as many stars as possible.
Sure, you can play at your ease. Slowly handle the puzzle, swerve around corners at your most relaxed possible gameplay. But that way does not earn any stars, stars that you need eventually to keep advancing to the following levels.
Spiral Splatter is also quite violent in a way when you move to close to the border, you are hit with a warning sound. When you end up destroying your play disc, it is with a real bang. The first time this happens, it will really catch you off guard with how impressive this experience is. Also when you try to speedrun in order to get those three stars, be prepared for some destruction!
Graphics wise, this is a simplistic game with not overly flashy graphics, but to be blunt, I love the way it is presented with this clear and clean layout. I can not really think of an alternative graphics style that would befit this game.
I have been outright about my love for puzzle games and this is no different. This game is so much fun, either in speedrun mode to get those three stars and in slow motion mode equally. I love how you do need to grab a certain amount of progress in between batches of levels. Add on top of that the great puzzle mechanics, changing colors, flipping switches, … I think this game is a must buy for the quick game, pun intended.
In conclusion, Spiral Splatter is a great puzzle game with a very low price point. It packs a serious punch and will give you a great challenge if you like games like these. I had little problem giving this game an 80% rating.
