Bleed is an action-platformer focused on stylish, acrobatic dodging and fluid, challenging gameplay. There’s no filler — just you and your skills against seven levels of enemies, obstacles, breakneck set-pieces and inventive bosses!

Bleed is sporting some very nice retro style graphics reminiscing of my younger days, like I mentioned before, I do have a love for retro graphics. I think they do match up perfectly with this game and every bit of the action, as hard as it was, felt befitting the graphics.

This game comes in 4 flavors when talking the difficulty levels and let me tell you, it has a rather steep uphill battle in store for you in order to eventually reach the hardest of levels. Basically, in this twin-stick shooter, you move with the left one and handle your arsenal with the right stick and it is not always easy to shoot those big rockets, as effective as they may be, I tended to prefer the simpler guns in my first few hours with the game. I liked the higher pace of the weapon and the accompanying ability to miss the enemy a lot less…

While playing this game, there was one thing that really bugged me, even in the easiest of settings, handling Wryn was kind of hard. She has these consecutive jumps but they were rather hard to really get the hang of. At one point I was in a level where I was facing setting off flying enemies when touching motion sensors of some sort. Needless to say, I died numerous times, too many I would like to admit, seeing I was playing in what is called the easy mode.

In itself, I would consider the difficulty level to be a little disappointing, as I expected more easy levels. On the other hand, this game really tested my ability to go through fast-paced side-scrolling levels and I just lack the finesse that this game requires, despite being a wintered gamer, this game just went too far. I would love it if they made it a little less fast paced…

In conclusion, this game is for the die-hard fan of the genre mostly, I would not say it is for your everyday shooting session, there are many other and more suited games out there for that. With the vast amount of games available on Switch already, I could recommend many others over this one. But in all honesty, if they’d adapt the difficulty level just a little, this game would easily become a steady 8 out of 10. The upgrades and other characters you can get to make it more than just a challenging game, but for me, I wanted just a little more…
