Blizzcon just started and already there is a HUGE announcement. Finally we are getting the support we are waiting for. Or at least the hero looks like a support hero.
Meet Moira
Our 26th hero is named Moira and in my opinion she looks like a combination of many heroes. But first let’s get into the backstory.
Moira is a telon member and a geneticist. I immediately draw the connection to the genetic alteration of Widowmaker. Moira is propably behind the creation of Widowmaker.
Abilities
Like I said earlier I see a lot of similarities between Moira and other heroes. One of her abilities is similar to Reaper’s shadow step. She can teleport at will. Her attack looks a bit like Symmetra. I don’t really know if it is exactly the same like if her ray locks on automatically but her attack at least look similar to Symmetras.
Another similarity to Symmetra is that she can shoot energy orbs that can either damage or heal a character. Yes you heard it right she is a healer. How amazing! But her ult looks really cool. It is basically just a massive ray that does very high damage or very high healing.
I personally don’t like the look of the character. For me it looks a bit too “warcraft” but I surely will give her a chance. She looks really powerfull and I think she can be used as a very offensive healer.
New Animated Short
There is also a new animated short called Honor and Glory featuring Reinhardt.
*obvious spoilers ahead*
The story starts off with Reinhardt sitting in a bar in Eichenwalde. This bar is actually the spawn room for the attackers.
He is sitting with some girl. Reinhardt just got the call from Winston to regroup and the girl and him are talking about it. She says that is isn’t his fight and “papa told me, after so many years of service, you gave Overwatch everything! But then they put you out.”. I think the girl he is talking with is the daughter or Torbjörn. She is obviously an engineer because she has a gear tattoo on her arm. Just like Torbjörn has. Not exactly the same but it is the logical conclusion.
Anyways after that we see a flashback with a young Reinhardt who is still with the crusaders. A subdivision of the German army consisting out of heavy armored knights living by the Knightly code.
Reinhardt is enjoying a beer with his comrades, saying he does not want to join Overwatch, until Omnics attack. Together with his team and the other Crusaders they try to repel the attack. But Reinhardt quickly abandons his squadron claiming they slow him down. OR-15 units spawn and he gets into trouble until Balderich comes in to save him, getting stabbed in the process. This is also the moment where Reinhardt lost his one eye.
They escape the units together and run for the keep. What follows next is a dialogue between Reinhardt and Balderich. Balderich says he will try to hold the Omnics off and implores Reinhardt to keep his oath as a Crusader by joining Overwatch. Reinhardt follows his orders and leaves Balderich behind to protect his other teammates. In the end we see Balderich von Adler’s visor light die down as he dies on his throne. We can still see his body on the Eichenwalde map. We then get back to the present where Reinhardt says he has been called and must answer it.
So that is about it for this time. Just suddenly a lot happens and without one leak nonetheless. That deserves an applause! But we could expect stuff hapenning during Blizzcon.
