A lot has happened the past 2 weeks! It started off slow but of course everyone knew a new event was underway. More specifically the anniversary event! And it is happening folks! Yet another Overwatch event is coming.
So the 23rd of May the Overwatch anniversary starts along with new skins and other amazing stuff.
The maps
Overwatch announced on their social media channels that there will be 3 new arena maps! Up until now we only had the ecopoint: Antarctica map. At least that’s what I think is an arena map. We are not entirely sure what Blizzard’s understanding of an arena map is as they call Antarctica an elimination map. The maps are not entirely new but are all additions to already existing locations. Eichenwalde, Dorado and Egypt. This is not announced yet but from what I see all these three maps are screaming from what country they’re from. Meaning Germany, Mexico and Egypt. The most interesting map is the Mexican one. Here we can look into one of Sombras hideouts. Once it comes out it maybe has tons of lore that we can find lying around on her desk. Anyways I am really looking forward to this.
The skins
We have a Soldier 76, Bastion, Pharah and (finally) Zarya skin. I don’t like Zarya but I know the community craved a Zarya skin. My opinion about these skins is that they are ugly. I don’t like them a lot. In my opinion, they look like cheap Chinese rip off’s. But hey that’s my opinion of course. I also don’t really get how they are going to put this in lore wise. I know that not every skin is lore related (for instance Reaper’s plague doctor skin or Symmetra’s Devi skin) but Overwatch never altered a character so much like they did with the Soldier skin now. And the skins always have something to do with the character. Soldier as a cyborg? I don’t know but we’ll see how it turns out.
And the most amazing thing that’s coming, in my opinion, is this!
DANCING EMOTES!
Got to say Sombra is becoming my main these days. New meta apparently and all that. But I truly love the dancing emote! So in regards, for Sombra we first have the “boop” voice line to spam, now we have dance moves as well! Good call Blizzard!
Lució got a dancing emote as well as Symmetra and Zenyatta. Lució’s looks like a combination of breakdancing and Michael Jackson. Symmetra of course has an Indian styled dance while Zenyatta has a emote showing of his Orb skills.
I am looking forward to the new event. Unfortunately, it is finals week for many of us and we can’t grind as much as we wanted too. But I hope everyone has a good time and may your loot be legendary!
