Are you ready to slaughter some mutilated undead people? Ready to bash some zombie heads? Of course you are! Killing Floor 2 is the perfect game to satisfy your thirst for blood and gore …Legally!
It’s been a while since they announced a successor for Killing Floor and it has been in testing modes for a long time. So was it worth the wait? Oh yes.
We all love some slasher/beat ’em up’s from time to time but Killing Floor 2 has taken the genre and has perfected it! Well at least until they make a KF3. It does have some flaws but those are mostly in the client or matchmaking, the gameplay itself is just outstanding and you know how much you love a no-brain brainsplatter.

A game to relax to?
Wait what, relax? Yes , hear me out. After a long day at work or school you can just fire up KF2 get into a game within 60 seconds and just kill some zeds. You don’t need to pain your brain while thinking of a strategy. And although it’s a horror/zombie shooter it’s not scary at all and I don’t think they tried to be scary so just relax and spam that Mouse1-button.
There is a class system implemented which lets you choose your starter kit and gives bonuses in correlation with your class, BUT you can still buy and use any weapon you like between waves. So you can be a gunslinger class (revolvers FTW) and still buy katana’s , shotguns and such but as the gunslinger your extra damage boost for revolvers doesn’t work on those guns so you have to keep that in mind. Leveling your class/perk is pretty fast but every perk is individual and goes op to lvl 25 so yes it can get a bit grindy if you want all perks on max lvl.

Cosmetics and microtransactions.
There are people who adore a fancy looking new hat or a special little green colored knife, and there are people who absolutely detest microtransactions. I’m in the latter group and while KF2 does have microtransactions it doesn’t affect the gameplay. From what I’ve seen it’s purely cosmetic and I hope this doesn’t change in the future because we don’t want a Pay to win zombie shooter now, do we? Ready to gamble and open some Cases USB sticks?

Conclusion:
I do think they’ve stepped up a lot since Killing Floor 1 and it’s one of the best “horror” shooters out there. The matchmaking system can use some improvement in my opinion but this can be easily avoided if you play with friends. So while this game is a lot of fun it’s not the type of game you play hours on end, I play maybe 30-60minutes a day. They tried adding the class system to have something to shoot for, a goal you can work towards and that’s a pretty smart move because you get excited if you only need one more game for the next perk and when you get it you need to test it out. So it does try to “hook” players into playing more, which I don’t mind because it is still a very good game!
