DLC: Call Of Duty Black Ops 3 Descent analysis.

Activision released the third Call of Duty Black Ops 3 map pack and I will take the time to see if these packs are worth it. The first pack was a mess and the second an improvement so let’s see how the third pack turned out.

Now before we get into this I just wanted to take some time to talk about just how bad Call of Duty Black Ops 3 is as a game. Aside from felling stiff and failing to properly design its levels with the new mechanics in mind, there are some horrible HORRIBLE balance issues. For my first runs on the map I wanted to play gun game on all of them. Now I knew the game had balancing issues but I didn’t know it was downright broken. Enter Argus. The Argus is a lever-based shotgun. I managed to kill and be killed in one shot from a medium distance. This “shotgun” has about the same range as a regular medium ranged gun and it kills in one shot. Why anyone would want to play this broken disaster of a game is beyond me. And if you thought that the game’s guns being broken wasn’t enough, go and try this DLC’s atrocious zombie map.

Rumble:

Rumble is a medium-sized map in which players fight in a big mecha fighting arena. The stage has mechas in the field and out it.

As far as layout goes it’s plain and forgettable. Nothing really stands out or feels like it has a specific purpose. There is on thing that stands out however. In the stage there are objects like cars any many other things that you totally should be able to jump over or on but because Treyarch apparently can’t make good games anymore you get blocked by invisible walls. Seriously a car in the middle of the map that can easily be cleared with a jetpack jump is impossible to jump on or over. If you’re not planning to use these objects right , then don’t use them at all. This map is bland and the invisible walls are embarrassing.

The robots on the map aren’t even that noticeable.

Bezerk:

Next up is Bezerk. Welcome to Skyrim. This map looks amazing. Its Viking aesthetics are amazing. The giant Viking statue in the distance looks very cool and demands your attention every time it’s on-screen. The snow makes everything look even nicer. Layout-wise it’s pretty solid too. There is a bridge in the middle and you can wall-run from a small passage at the side of the bridge to either half of the stage. It’s a cool looking map with a super solid layout.

This map is legitimately greatly designed.

Cryogen:

This map is a Cryogenic penitentiary located somewhere in a dried up sea. This map looks cool. When you look outside the map you can see the sea actually dried up and in the distance are security walls with these dreadful death towers and it goes on for three rows. It looks cool as hell. I like the ice tubes you can wall-run around on. The layout of the map is pretty good too. It’s fairly standard stuff but the rooms all have something different going on and it makes for a more pleasurable enjoyment than the alternatives.

A cool premise for a map and the skybox is amazing.

Empire:

Empire is a remake of Black Ops 2’s Raid map. This time around it sports a new look. This time, the aesthetics are roman inspired. The entire map looks like a roman villa. The awkward draw distance of the trees in the background is distracting but not too bad. The pure white and red colors manage to make the map pop and make it look really nice. The layout is a bit confusing but after a while, you will get what’s going on and then the map becomes fairly enjoyable.

The red and white make the map look really nice.

Gorod Grovi:

And now over to this mess. The new zombie map is called Gorod Grovi. Look it doesn’t matter if the layout is good or if it’s fun because this map has a giant problem. First off, the map’s textures take ages to load and for literally the first five minutes it looks like you are playing a N64 game. Not only does the map look atrocious but there is so much shit on screen that the game runs like shit. For real, The game never ran above 20 frames per second. It’s inexcusable and even if you don’t play the zombies map you should NEVER, EVER support a product this broken.

Do I even need to go into what’s wrong with this image?

And that’s yet another map pack done. The last DLC pack was better, but only because it actually functioned. The maps are a mixed bag but when your zombie map runs and looks the worst it could possibly be, I can’t recommend it to anyone. Activision should not have released it and Treyarch should have made a better game.
