Nintendo recently revealed the return of the NES thanks to their NES Mini console but now Sega decided to bring back the Mega Drive as well.
Sega will re-release their Mega Drive system as a console and a handheld, including 80 games, where Nintendo ‘only’ adds 30 on their NES Mini. The Mini Mega Drive doesn’t support HDMI but can still be connected with modern televisions using a different input. It comes with two wireless controllers, the ability to play original Mega Drive games and 80 pre-installed games.
Besides the console, Sega is also bringing a Mega Drive handheld on the market with the same 80 pre-installed games. You can even download ROMs on an SD-card and play those games thanks to the SD support on the handheld.
Both systems are releasing in honor of the 25th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog but in all honesty, we just think that Sega wants to win a classic console war from Nintendo this Holiday season. If you’re interested in these systems or the NES Mini, you can pre-order yours here.
