You can read the review for Fallout 4 Automatron here. In this mod guide I will quickly cover some Automatron mods. So yes, you WILL need Automatron to use these mods.
Just like in my other Fallout 4 mod guide, this mod guide uses the Nexus Mod Manager to install the mods.

Automatron – Weapons System Overhaul: Automatron gives you access to a lot of customisation regarding weaponry. This mod adds a lot more beside the weaponry. Depending on what you build, you get different combat styles (Sniper, melee or close combat) but also more robot parts. If you love the customisation aspect of Automatron, you can’t play without this mod. It also adds the possibility to get more than one robot to follow you! Now you can have a real army following you like this:

Moddable Buddy (Automatron): If you’ve kept Buddy from Trouble Brewin’, you might find it weird that this robot isn’t moddable with the DLC. This mod fixes that, allowing you to make Buddy into the tank-comedian-beer refrigerator that we all know he secretly wants to be!

Installation: Download and install with Nexus Mod Manager
Robotic n Rust Devil Themed Settlement Decorations: If you have played Automatron, you will have noticed a lot of new material. Sadly, you can’t use this on your own settlements in the vanilla game. Lucky for you, you are reading this guide and now you know that this mod just does that. “Robotic ‘n’ Rust Devil Themed Settlement Decorations” adds a few of those new stuff, with more coming out soon

Installation: Download and install with Nexus Mod Manager
VamS – Vibrant and more Sharp DLC Robots: If you have updated the vanilla textures of Fallout, the textures of Automatron will stand out due to their dullness compared to the modded ones. Not anymore with this mod!

Installation: Download and install with Nexus Mod Manager.
County Crossing Crash Fix: If you are using a UI mod and have finished Automatron, you will come across the CTD upon travelling to County Crossing. This mod is a quick fix for that CTD bug his appears to be caused by the minimap icon appearing on the compass. So, IF you CTD upon leaving The Mechanits lair, install this mod and it should be fixed.
