Review: F1 2015

The summer, without a doubt the best season for a lot of people. Gamers don’t always agree on that however. Summer means that there aren’t really that many games releasing in stores. That is, if you don’t count the Sports games. Summer is high season for those Sports games and Formula 1 isn’t any different. F1 2015 released just a couple of days ago and brings you some fresh gameplay during the summer. Is it worth the shot? It sure is!

There’s nothing like Formula 1 racing

We have to admit it, there are a lot of great racing games on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 already, so why this F1 2015? Well first of all, there’s simply no other racing simulator that can deliver the speed of Formula 1 cars except this F1 2015. Like we’re already used to of the franchise, you’ll get your hands on the fastest vehicles on earth, driving on realistic tracks all over the world.

The racing tracks, or circuits like they are called, are worked out to perfecting. Every little detail matches the real deal so for F1 fans it truly is a blessing for the eye. Newcomers will also be able to enjoy the circuits since they are without a doubt one of the most gorgeous ones found in simulator games. The same goes for the weather effects. Most racing simulators are handling this feature the right way and F1 is no exception. It delivers true to nature weather effects with all the consequences that come with weather changes. F1 wants to give you a feeling of the real deal and if it comes to graphics, it really succeeds in its goal.

Modify everything you want

Aside of the way the game looks, it’s far more important to see what the game actually plays like. First of all we must say that the customization is huge in the game. Formula 1 is a sport where everything depends on the right use of tools and technics. It’s no surprise that the developers wanted to translate this feeling into the game. This means you’ll notice your tires wearing off, you’re brakes struggling with heath and more. Every decision you make is really important, making a wrong one will end up with a bad spot at the finish

Nothing goes as fast as Formula 1

Everything can be changed before the start of the game. You can select the tires, brakes, downforce, fuel and more right before you enter the circuit. It’s what fans of Formula 1 are asking for and it’s what this game delivers. For fans with a lot of interest in tuning their racing machines to perfection, this is the best simulator on the market. Don’t even dare to race without rain tires during rain; it will cost you your position on top.

Or let the computer do it for you

This amount of detail and technic you need to take into consideration are great for the die-hard formula 1 fans but what about newcomers? Well, they don’t have to fear. Right at the start of the game, you can select the level of difficulty. The higher this level, the more you’ll need to do. Newcomers will better start at the easiest difficulty where the computer will make to most logical choses for the technical support of your car. It can even assist you with your breaking, another important feature to master if you want to reach the finish.

It’s great to see the developers putting this amount of effort in creating modes that will meet everybody’s desires. Die-hard fans and newcomers will both find the mode they’re looking for and both will find a different way of enjoying the game.

The game modes

Now that we’ve discussed the technical aspect of the game, it’s time to talk about the different modes it has to offer. The biggest one is without a doubt the Career mode. In here you select one of the famous or lesser-known drivers and their cars to start racing. Once you’ve selected the driver and his car, you can start competing in various famous competitions all over the globe. The best part of it all is that you can race in both the 2014 and 2015 season, so you won’t miss out on any action!

Getting really good at the game? Than there’s the Pro-Season, the hardest mode without a doubt. This basically offers the same experience than Career mode but raises the bar tremendously. In this mode every little touch counts and every little details of your car needs to be adjusted just right. If it’s not adjusted right you’ll lose without a doubt. This isn’t a mode for the mainstream and even the die-hard fans will struggle to gain first place here.

These are the two big modes the game has to offer. You can still race normal Grand Prix races and do some Time Trials but that’s about it. Lucky for the gamers there’s also an online mode that works incredibly well. Nothing special really but just the fun of playing against other human gamers online is a great feature that every racing game should have.

The amount of modes is ok but we couldn’t help but feel like some of the better modes went missing in this new episode. Where is the ability to drive with classic cars? We hope this feature will be added later on. As for now, the modes are great but play it rather safe.

Remember, this still is a simulator

This brings us to the last part of the review, the little warning. Although F1 2015 tries to deliver the same experience for everybody using different levels of difficulties, it still remains a simulator. This means that fans of The Crew and Need for Speed need to stay away as far as possible from this game. This isn’t an arcade racer that you pick up and play. It demands some of your time to truly master this simulator. Everything is created to resemble the real deal so that means you need to break at the right time and wait for openings in order to get passed other drivers. It isn’t an easy game for sure but it’s everything you can expect from a great simulator.

Conclusion

And so we can only conclude that F1 2015 does everything you would expect but plays it rather safe when it comes to modes in the game. It’s the perfect simulator game for the fans and even newcomers will enjoy the game thanks to the different difficulty levels. There are some minor frame rate problems under the hood but all in all it’s a great experience. If you’re looking for a solid F1 game without a lot of innovations, you’re safe to get this one in stores. We can’t wait to see what the next season will bring!
