Some might noticed that we reviewed a lot of Indie games lately, this is part of our new direction we’re heading with the website.
Since we wrote a total of four Indie reviews, we thought it might be a good idea to list them up in this first Indie Corner.
In the future we’ll feature several Indie games at once, including a small conclusion and what’s good or bad about the game. In this first edition you’ll be able to go to the full written review as well. That being said, enjoy our first Indie Corner!
The first Indie game we reviewed this month was Slice Zombies for Kinect. A game by MADE and exclusive to Xbox One. We concluded:
All in all we can say that Slice Zombies for Kinect offers a fun experience but lacks extra modes. The game is fun to play thanks to the different type of zombies and power-ups you unlock during your sessions. The biggest problem is that it really is a short game and doesn’t offer a lot for your money. There still are problems with the Kinect camera, especially in the menus but this can be patched in the future. It’s a charming game but it simply lacks more depth to stay fun.

The second Indie of this month was Lifeless Planet, also played on Xbox One but available on several other consoles as well. It tells the story of a stranded astronaut on a ‘lifeless’ planet. We concluded:
Lifeless Planet is a strange little game. It looks like a game that was meant to be played past generation and the platform nor puzzle elements never innovate. On the other hand you have a lot of freedom and you really want to know what’s going on. It’s a classic love it or hate it game so you’ll really need to ask yourself if you’re willing to find the answers. We learned to appreciate it for what it is.

And so we arrive at Indie number three, Nihilumbra. By far the most original one of the bunch and played on Wii U this time. Also available on other platforms but if you ask us, the Wii U is the perfect home for this one:
Nihilumbra is a very unique indie game and it feels right at home on the Wii U thanks to the interactive GamePad. It’s a game that many of you will overlook or might think they’ve played something like it before. Don’t be mistaken however; this is by far one of the most unique and fun games that appeared in the eShop. We strongly recommend everybody to give this game a chance and enjoy its beautiful atmosphere.
8/10
So we end with the fourth and last game of this first Indie Corner, Ultratron. A classic new twin-stick shooter where you control a cute little droid. What we thought:
Ultratron is a great twin-stick shooter that adds an extra layer to the genre thanks to the shop. But it isn’t the perfect twin-stick shooter just yet. Thanks to the many effects, the game can be very chaotic. The boss battles also disappoint since they are rather easy. It’s a great game to kill some time but we agree that it isn’t a game to play for a very long time. If you’re looking for an action packed game to play from time to time, than this is the game you want.
