Nintendo just released the Wii U in the States and will release the console by the end of this month in Europe as well (Japan will follow later).
The launch of a new system however doesn’t mean that the Wii will be left outside in the cold. There’s currently some speculation about a Wii Mini console.
This redesigned Wii console should hit stores on December 7th, if we can believe this message from a retailer:

The source couldn’t be confirmed and Nintendo refuses to respond to rumors and speculation.
It doesn’t look like a ‘dumb’ plan however, introducing a Wii Mini during the Holidays could give the Wii the last boost before Wii U steals the show.
