NEWS: Update Xbox 360 starts today

Today, Microsoft starts with updating the dashboard of over 3 million Xbox 360 consoles worldwide. The rest will follow later.

Microsoft-spokesperson Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb posted this on his blog.

The biggest changes on the dashboard are the Internet Explorer option and the new Xbox Music service, announced yesterday by Microsoft. Also, Zune Video Marketplace will now be called Xbox Video.

It is now also possible to pin your favorite game, tv-series or website on the main screen, so you have quicker access. The Bing search has also been adjusted, and they added nine new countries to the Kinect Voice Command list.

The Xbox SmartGlass, which enables you to use a tablet or smartphone for better media-experience, is not coming to Xbox yet. We still have to wait until October 26th, because it’s launching at the same time as Windows 8, Microsoft’s new operating system.
