NEWS: New Super Smash Bros will be different

After finishing Kid Icarus: Uprising on Nintendo 3DS, Sakurai started developing Super Smash Bros on WiiU and 3DS.

The game will be different from previous games in the franchise. The link between Nintendo WiiU and 3DS will play a very important role in the innovation of the franchise.

Although Sakurai just started the development of the new Smash games, he’s already full of ideas:

“There is a certain dead end we come to if we just expand the volume of the game,” he said.

“I intend to change direction a little as we go.”

“The key to that’s going to be its dual support for 3DS/Wii U,” Sakurai said, but didn’t give further details.

“I’m really just getting started on this so it’s going to take time, but I’ll come up with something that uses that link as the game’s central axis, so I hope you’re looking forward to it.”

An E3 2012 debut doesn’t seem very likely.
