The President and Founder of Development ArenaNet announced through a blog post that a Beta will be released for select Press in February and to gamers outside the press in March and April. In the post the 2012 release is also confirmed. ArenaNet states that their game will bring huge amount of cooperation between players and will bring a new type of questing to the whole MMO genre.
