NEWS: No Final Fantasy XIII-3 despite proof

When a game developer registers a domain name, there’s a logic reason for that: they’re working on a new game and the domain name is a link to that.

So when Square Enix registered ‘finalfantasyxiii-3.com, everyone thought there was going to be a third episode, even far before the second was launched.

But it appears ‘everyone’ was wrong. It was just a precaution, so no one else could use the name. Even worse: the Japanese staff didn’t even know about the domain before they read about it online. They claim there are no plans on the table for a third episode, but they didn’t confirm that it will never exist.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 launches this month in Japan and early 2012 in Europe.
