Smash Bros. first DLC character Mewtwo is out. Let’s take a look at how he works and the new features of the latest patch.
Ok so Mewtwo is out an you’re wondering what new toy he brought after being away for more than 10 years. Well… nothing really, Mewtwo hasn’t changed as far as moves go. Though his moves havent changed, they have gotten a visual upgrade. Everything looks nicer but nothing really new.
His shadow ball takes a longer time to charge than aura-sphere but does more damage. His confusion has the most change now giving you a small hop when used in air. Confusion is still hard as hell to use so I don’t know if anyone has made good use of it.
His Final Smash is called Psystrike which turn him into Mega Mewtwo Y and fires a powerful ball that stuns and immediately launches any opponent caught in it. It’ really disappointing that you don’t change in Mega Mewtwo Y and does something like Mega Charizard or Super Sonic.
As for his custom moves, there isn’t much to say since he doesn’t have any. Why is that. I can’t believe it’s to hard to make these custom moves. Maybe they will release them when Lucas comes out.
Mega Mewtwo Y: Mewtwo’s Final Smash
His new colors are the same as melee with a few new one nothing special except for the last one which seems to be based on Shadow Lugia. as for his taunts he has his Melee taunt back. As for his two new taunts one is basically Lucario’s charged taunt and another is his render taunt.
A few of Mewtwo’s colors the only color that didn’t make it from Melee is his green color.
So as far as Mewtwo goes he hasn’t changed a bit. That having been said overall he has been considerably buffed only less floaty. But still floaty though. Oh and bigger.
Use his neutral air to make for a safe landing for the most part. His forward air is a force to be reckoned with. and Mewtwo’s tail attacks are way more powerful when you use it at the base of his body. A thing I think might be really good is using Confusion on the opponent in front of you and then just smash. It seems like a to good to be true combo.
Despited what people said, Lucario was never really Mewtwo’s replacment.
As for the new things added:
Tilt and smash attacks don’t work when holding character specific items and some regular items. So no holding a turnip, metal blade or bombs and smashing at the same time.
On the Wii U version the game will remember the name tag between modes which is a blessing since most people use custom controller set-ups and forgetting to set your name can mess up everything.
And of course the last thing is the new Mii DLC costumes and they look great but I am kinda disappointed that you can’t change the colors of your costume although it seems some of them look slightly different depending on sex.
Protoman, X and Dunban are my favorites.
Protoman: The OG Vergil
And that is the update, Mewtwo is a bigger buffed version of melee. He has no custom moves which is weird and with the exception of the last option his colors aren’t impressive. The new options are good and they fix a bit of problems people had. The DLC costumes are cool with the best ones being Protoman and X. If these costumes are a sign of things to come, then sign me up for this certainly expensive trip.
